Vendor Workshop A
Friday 10:00 - 10:30am
A1 Institute for Writing Excellence: Come and discover a checklist method of teaching writing that provides the student with a clear model of what the finished product should contain and gives you an objective method of evaluating their work. Finding that you can use this program with any grade student, you will come away from this Vendor Workshop saying, “Yes, I can teach writing!”

A2 Patrick Henry College: The homeschool college.
This workshop includes a brief overview of the ministry of Patrick Henry College, a discussion on how to prepare your homeschooler for college, and a Q and A time with 2 current Patrick Henry College students.

Kimera Saunders has thoroughly enjoyed homeschooling her 2 children in Billings, MT. Having a heart for training up students to be powerful Christian leaders, she has helped her children prepare for, apply to, and be accepted by top colleges. Both of her children, Robert and Sarah, are currently students at Patrick Henry College.

A3 RightStartMath: Building a Solid Foundation. Mathematics is about patterns and relationships, much more than memorizing facts and procedures. The abacus enables children to learn through guided discovery. It uses their natural ability to visualize, which helps them master the facts and solve problems. Understanding concepts and the relationships between them are critical for building a strong foundation. John Orluck
A4 Special Needs: A panel of veteran homeschool moms will lend their experience in a discussion of curriculum and techniques in working with their special needs students.

Frank and Debbie Schaner started the company in 1994, when they realized how difficult it was to find the right science supplies for teaching their four children at home. C1 Taking the Frustration out of Math/Music, Art, & Drama: Explains children’s development as it relates to math ability, and suggests appropriate methods and materials for each age. The second part discusses how to incorporate arts experiences into the curriculum. Mary Hood
C2 4H : Enhancing your Homeschool. Come see how 4H can enhance your homeschooling with projects like electricity, robotics, veterinary science, computer science. From hands on science to satisfying high school electives, 4H isn’t just for farm kids anymore.
Ronnie Baker is the Yellowstone City 4H Extension Agent.
Jennifer Laszloffy is a seasoned homeschooler of 5 and 4H organizational leader.
C3 Misconceptions about the Courts - A Constitutional Primer on Separation of Powers. Does the constitution really give judges the authority they seem to have? Does the constitution specify that the Courts are the final word regarding Constitutionality? You may be surprised that common misconceptions about judges and the judiciary have no constitutional basis.
Rick Jore is a member of the Montana House of Representatives and Chairman of the Education Committee. He and his wife Nancy schooled their 5 children at home, and now have 9 home educating grandchildren. They own and operate Westslope Trout Company.
C4 7 Categories of Consequences to Motivate Heart Change Parents are always on the lookout for consequences…these 7 categories will give parents plenty of ideas for correction. Most importantly, how do these consequences help motivate heart change in children. It’s not enough to change the behavior, a change of heart is key.
Bill and Bambi Neal have a vision to help parents change the way they think about parenting. The scriptures are relevant and practical for all families, whether they be traditional families, single parent families, or blended families.
C5 National History Day
Discuss what National History Day for middle and high schoolers is all about, and how homeschoolers can incorporate this extensive research competition into their history curriculum.

Laquita Andrews is originally from Texas and has lived in MT for 3 years. She has 5 wonderful children and enjoys the adventure of homeschooling more every year. She has a heart for encouraging women in their every day life.
D3 The Bible: The Heart of the Home Explores the challenges of bringing the Bible into the real lives of the busy homeschooling family, and celebrates the joyous reward of seeing the lives of our children and ourselves opened up more fully to listening to and obeying the voice of God through His Word.
Pastor Sean and Tess Eddy homeschool their 5 children ages 16 to 5 as they fuel their passion for knowing and loving God. They minister at Billings Heights Baptist Church.
D4 TeenPact gives students an opportunity to learn about government by living the life of a legislator with a Christian World View.
Jeff Laszloffy is president of the Montana Family Foundation, which is associated with Focus on the Family. He and his wife Jennifer have 5 children and live on a small farm near Laurel, MT.
D5 Looking Back: Reflections on Why and How — and Did (?!) Our Kids Turn Out Laugh and cry when you join these “vintage” (gray-haired) homeschool moms as they share their homeschooling odyssey in a panel discussion on educating their children through the vicissitudes of life (serious illness, births, death, moves, marriage, remarriage, blended families, adoption, wide age ranges, rebellion, isolation, special needs, learning challenges, financial crises, and more). How, then, should we home school?! Well, it can be done. Their purpose is to encourage and to inspire you to “run the race” and to “fight the good fight” of faith as it applies to educating your children at home. Scott Brown, who helps home school eight of his children, recognizes the importance of having his children’s hearts (Malachi 4:6), and the impact this has on their ability to learn. G2 I’m Sorry: Training Young Apologists Focus: parent educators of middle-high school students Their beliefs will be questioned, values criticized, faith attacked. Will our children be ready? This workshop will address real life situations where we, and our students, are forced to defend what we believe. The art of defending our faith is fundamental to Christianity. G3 Genesis and the So-Called Ice Age One of the most confusing issues for a person believing a straightforward reading of the Book of Genesis is the Ice Age. This seminar will help you unravel the mystery of such things as glaciers, woolly mammoths and the Genesis Flood—subjects that have been the catalyst for many people rejecting faith in the Scriptures.
Patrick Nurre‘s life long love of rockhounding has earned his collections in geology specimens and thunder eggs a place in Ken Ham’s new Creation museum in KY.
G4 Every Dad a Homeschooling Dad! (Dads Only) You may not crack open a book, work through a curriculum, or call it school, but it’s your job to train your children. Join me as we look at the trials, triumphs, and tribulations of training our children. H1 Help! I’m Married to a Homeschooling Mom (Dads only) It’s a fact! The only thing tougher than being a homeschooling mom is…being married to a homeschooling mom! Dad, your wife needs your help. Come join me as we discuss how to support and assist our wives in the homeschooling journey. We’ll also do a lot of laughing, as I encourage men to be encouragers of their homeschooling wives. H2 Homeschooling Through High School Homeschooling during the high school years is intimidating and frightful! Just the thought makes most parents quake in their boots! Consider this a slam-dunk course in record-keeping, transcripts, portfolios, curriculum, ACT/SAT, diplomas, and teaching the harder classes such as Algebra or Spanish. Whether your child is headed to college or not, this Vendor Workshop will help you to walk a little more confidently as you navigate the high school waters.
Vicki Holle is our local YCHE’s fearless leader & veteran homeschooler to her and Steven’s 2 graduates. She has a passion to serve her Savior, and minister to homeschoolers.
H3 How to Teach Earth Science, Geology and Rocks, and Even Enjoy It! There is a huge disconnect between your kids’ love for rocks and your desire to teach earth science. Face it, much of our experience with earth science has just been plain boring, and most people know little about geology. Yet, getting it right in this subject is absolutely necessary for developing a sound Biblical worldview. This seminar will help you revisit teaching geology with more enthusiasm along with field trip ideas & discussing specific ways to make it come alive. Patrick Nurre
H4 Studying Personalities will present the importance of understanding yourself and others through God given personalities. Bo’s method can give you tools to best customize your curriculum and teaching methods to reach each individual child. Bo is certified to instruct Florence Littauer’s Personality Plus. He has extensive knowledge and experience utilizing this method in all walks of life.
Bo Wagner was homeschooled through highschool and he and wife Brook have 2 young learners at home.
H5 Struggling Learners of All Ages a.k.a. “Why Some of the Smartest People Struggle with Learning.”
Elsie Johnson is an educational therapist who works with learners of all ages. She helps learners to recognize and respect the differences in ways of thinking and to use their individual gifts.
